Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is delighted to announce a partnership with Sligo Rovers, who will host the Marching Bands competition during the Fleadh Cheoil next August 9th-16th.
This partnership will be launched next Saturday May 16th at The Showgrounds, where the Fleadh will be official sponsor of Sligo Rovers for the home game v Drogheda United (kick off is 7:45pm).
While the Rovers’ results may not have been great of late (a temporary measure we are sure), we are delighted to team up with them ahead of what will be a very busy period for Rovers and for the Fleadh in the weeks and months ahead. And whether you are a regular Sligo Rovers supporter or an occasional visitor to The Showgrounds, we’d urge you to get out and support the Bit o’ Red this Saturday.
In the build up to the match on Saturday, supporters will be greeted by Fleadh Cheoil musicians as they enter the grounds. In addition, the Fleadh team will be in attendance to meet and greet patrons, distribute information and give advice about how to sign up to help as a Fleadh Volunteer, register a room for visitors or answer any other questions.
Fleadh Chairperson Bartley Gavin will speak at half time to those in attendance about major plans for Fleadh 2015, which will include hundreds of events, concerts, street sessions and much more besides. We saw what a wonderful job the Fleadh did in transforming the streets of Sligo last August, and the plan this year is for Sligo to host an even bigger Fleadh this time around. But this can only be done with the help and support of the entire community, so get involved and support the Fleadh.
Whether you are new to the Fleadh or were one of the 1500+ who got involved last year, and whether you are interested in helping for a few hours or for a few days, we’ll be delighted to speak with you and answer any questions you may have.
So get down to the Showgrounds on Saturday, support the Rovers, support the Fleadh, and we look forward to meeting you all there.
